Jeju in MayFantastic fun for children and parents

Warm spring days have arrived in earnest. If you are looking for some fun experience programs and activities to enjoy with your child outdoors, Jeju has a wealth of options on offer. If your child is very active, how about go-karting? If they’re more on the creative spectrum, how about a LEGO-like brick program? If your little prince or princess likes pink, then how about a visit to the Hello Kitty Museum? And then there’s Shinhwa World in the Jungmun Tourist Complex where fun and shopping go hand-in-hand with its array of amusement and duty-free facilities.

Science and nature come together to raceJeju Monolith 9.81 Park
모노리스981

If you like driving or enjoying speeding around a race track with the family, this destination is an excellent option for adults and kids. On the power track, there are three types of carts and courses: a 1-person go-kart with a maximum speed of 40 km/h (minimum age is 14 and 150cm in height); a 2-seater (minimum age is 3 and 100cm in height) perfect for couples or a parent and child to enjoy the race track together (but with mom or dad safely at the wheel); and an expert option that goes up to 60 km/h.

There is a non-motorized racing space that employs gravity to demonstrate acceleration and which has only a brake. This course is completed in 1 to 2 minutes with a 20-minute turnaround.

Prices are 18,000 won for a ride in the 1-seater, 24,000 won for the 2-seater. There is the option to pay for multiple laps, and Jeju residents are eligible for a 25% discount.

Block-building that elevates a toy to an artBrick Campus
브릭캠퍼스

A fond childhood memory is one playing with toy blocks. We activated our imaginations and creativity that way, though as we grew up we may have lost some of that enthusiasm. But here at Brick Campus, you can recapture those memories of youth with your children, or on your own! This is the world’s first brick art museum and it is conveniently located in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City. You can see and experience brick art — where the toy is elevated into an art — for yourself.

Brick Campus is made up of gardens, block galleries, classrooms and a cafe. The gallery has a total of 4.5 million blocks, and you can enjoy about 300 works of brick art there, including famous art works, famous buildings, movie and animated characters, and scenery created by 40 talented artists.

In addition, the inspiration you can get from the work created by the brick artists can also encourage you to challenge yourself and your creativity. You can spend time building block creations with your children, writing messages using large blocks, and enjoying time both as adults and as children.

If you get hungry, there is a café that sells snacks and desserts based on the concept of bricks. Their brick burger is fun in that you can choose from a combination of six different colors and shapes of bread, which adds to the enjoyment of your meal.

A fun Jeju theme parkJeju Shinhwa World
신화월드

Shinhwa Theme Park is full of characters and interesting stories. It is a great place to bring children without having to worry too much. There is also areas that are suitable for adults, so you can avoid the boredom of waiting while the kids are busy being kids. A bowling alley, cafes, restaurants, duty free shopping and more, operate within Shinhwa World.

If your child is familiar with the Korean animated ‘Larva’ character — it is now popular all over the world — they’ll love exploring the first of the park’s three differently themed zones. Larva Adventure Village is a place where you can meet all the greatest characters in myths and children’s stories. Rotary Park is a steampunk-themed area that with all the characters TUBAn has developed. And Oscar’s New World is a mysterious jungle that offers Inca and Maya Civilization-themed rides. There are 15 such themed rides in total around the park.

If you’d like to try your hand at pizza making, Wingcle’s Pizzeria offers a DIY menu where children can make pizza directly. With the help of a chef, you knead your pizza dough and add your preferred toppings to your very own pie. They have fried chicken as well.

Shinhwa World also has great duty free shopping for foreign visitors departing Jeju at the end of their trip, so you can stock up on your favourite cosmetics, fashions and designer bags at excellent prices.
