The winds of Jejudo Island left traces of their visit on Seolkumbadang Beach. The word seolkum, which means the holes made in snow by the wind, refers to a site full of punctured rocks, and Seolkumbadang Beach is formed across the borders of a seolkum and Sagye Coast. More precisely, Seolkumbadang Beach, which contains traces of 800 thousand years of weathering, refers to the area that stretches from Sagye Port to all of Yongmeori Coast, a beach with holes. Seolkumbadang Beach has a beautiful duet of black and brown sand. The holes scattered over the beach are a wonder as well. Thus, Seolkumbadang Beach is considered the beach with the most unique colors. Sagye Coast is surrounded by a beautiful landscape. If you face the sea, Sanbangsan Mountain and Yongmeori Coast are behind you and Gapado Island, Marado Island, and the Hyeongjeseom Islands are in front of you. Seolkumbadang Beach, formed by volcanic eruptions, arouses awe. Each and every part of the scenery is a work of nature, which makes the landscape more magnificent. It is the perfect place for wedding photos or couple snapshots. Note that the lateral view of Seolkumbadang Beach makes the holes stand out more, intensifying the ambiance of Jejudo Island. One more thing. The overall colors of Seolkumbadang Beach are dark. Though certain parts of the beach are green from moss, this is not the case for the parts of Seolkumbadang Beach located on the side of Sagye Coast. If you want to take photos of a coastal village on Jejudo Island, Mangjangpo Port is the place you should go. This peaceful, cozy port where you can find rocks with fantastic shapes showing traces of lava flows. The origin of the name Mangjangpo Port varies. Some say the port got its name from casting many fishing nets into the sea; others say that the name originates from the smoke signals used to warn about invasions of Japanese pirates, which occurred frequently in the past. As you can see, Mangjangpo Port of Harye-ri village has various stories. As part of Jeju Olle Route 5, the port is a secret attraction shared only by visitors traveling on Jeju Olle. Moreover, among the remaining ports on Jejudo Island, Mangjangpo Port not only preserves the features of a traditional port, but also combines it with aspects of a modern port. Such uniqueness has made the port a secret spot for anglers.

In Mangjangpo Port, there is a small staircase made of stacked stones, and this is the site for your best photo. Go up the stairs and let your shoulders match the sea level. The blue horizon in the background will give your beach photo a unique charm that the typical white sands cannot provide. The fascinating rocks by the sea and the green trees behind them display the refreshing ambiance of summer. As you get closer to Mangjangpo Port, you can also find ridges of volcanic cones and Hallasan Mountain stretching out beyond the Olle Trail. This port is recommended to visitors searching for beach locations that are not busy. On the quiet breakwater of Mangjangpo Port, you don’t need to rush; take your time. Set up your tripod anywhere you want and take pictures from different angles.

In Bomok-dong, Seogwipo-si, there is a small version of Baekdusan Mountain that features the beauty of Cheonji Pond on the original mountain. Named after Baekdusan Mountain’s Cheonji Pond, Socheonji Pond (whose name means little Cheonji Pond) is one of the best photo locations, known by only a few people. The place deserves more popularity. There are many ways to go to Socheonji Pond, located in the middle of Olle Route 6. It is difficult to find the pond unless you have arrived by walking on the course. Search for Socheonji Pond with a GPS navigator, or get off the bus at the nearby bus stop and walk for a few minutes. Along the way, you will find a breathtaking view of nature. The path to Socheonji Pond is a part of a Buddhist pilgrimage route, as well as Olle Route 6. So, you can find ribbons with a different color than the ones used as signposts for Jeju Olle.

Pass the sign for Socheonji Pond, and then you will find a wooden staircase that leads you to the first photo spot, the pavilion of Socheonji Pond. Take a photo with the pond in the background, and walk down the stairs to go to Socheonji Pond. Mysteriously shaped stones as tall as a steeple surround this small version of Cheonji Pond by the sea. Magnificent Hallasan Mountain is mirrored on the surface of Socheonji Pond, creating a spectacular scene nowhere else to be seen. Unfortunately, you cannot see this all the time: it requires calm winds and a clear sky. So, if the weather is good during your trip, you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Socheonji Pond. Visit the place and take a photo with amazing Socheonji Pond, where you can see both Baekdusan Mountain and Hallasan Mountain.

How about taking photos on a wonderful beach on Jejudo Island where the sea is divided? The beach near Seogeondo Island is sometimes referred to as “the Miracle of Moses.” The waters of the beach recede as the tide reaches the peak of its ebb and flow. Once the sea is parted, a mudflat appears connecting the island and Jejudo Island. Measuring about 10 m in width, 300 m in length, and 13,367㎡ in total area, the mudflat allows people to visit Seogeondo Island by foot. On their way to the island, visitors can enjoy various experiences such as catching shellfish and octopus. Since the waters only part at low tide twice a day, you should check the tide table before visiting. As the path to Seogeondo Island is usually submerged, you can spot sea creatures such as top shells and clams around you, but you have to watch your step because the stones are very slippery. Make sure you wear sneakers. With a nice wooden walkway, Seogeondo Island is a nice place for a stroll. It only takes 30 minutes to look around the place.

Everywhere you go on Seogeondo Island is perfect for an excellent photo. Go on a rock and pose naturally. The black rock, contrasting with the blue sky, will add a mysterious feeling to your relaxed pose. Moreover, the trail running through the divided sea is imposing. For another good photo, take a couple photo on the trail. The walkway on Seogeondo Island is another popular photo spot. On the walkway that faces the sea, you can sometimes see a school of dolphins swimming through the coastal waters. Hopefully you will see the dolphins on your trip. The beaches of Jejudo Island are beautiful both day and night. Among them, Iho Tewoo Beach is loved by many tourists. Renowned as a photogenic spot, the edge of this beach features two horse-shaped lighthouses called the Pony Lighthouses. The red and the white ponies make exotic scenery. When the sea reaches its lowest level, a surprisingly wide sandy beach and a wondam come into view. A wondam is a traditional stone trap used to catch fish using the tides, and the one on Iho Tewoo Beach is a result of restoration. This wondam, called Iho Mosarwon, is where the Wondam Fishing Experience Event is held during the Iho Tewoo Festival, and it is also a photogenic beach spot. Though Iho Tewoo Beach is visited by a large number of people as it is close to downtown Jeju, only a few know the magically appearing wondam at low tide.

Iho Tewoo Beach, which is also a popular place to watch the sun set, offers an epic landscape of the sun slowing going down and the beautiful surroundings. You can sit on the stones of the wondam, dip your feet into the remaining shallow water, and have your picture taken. In addition, a group of acacia trees greets you on the street corner to the beach, and then a grove of pine trees guides you to the sandy beach. The camping grounds in the pine forest attract a lot of people in the summer. There are also amenities including a service area with a viewing deck, a parking lot, and a changing room to ensure you have a delightful time.
