Tips for an all-day-long bus tripwith Bus 810

When planning your trip, keep in mind that the first bus will start running at 8:30 AM at the Daecheon Transfer Center. The last bus will depart from the Daecheon Transfer Center at 5:30 PM and return at 6:50 PM. Usually, you can visit 3 - 5 places a day, so choose where you want to go without straining yourself too much. It is also a good idea to set a theme, such as “exploring the oreums” or “walking in the woods.” The interval between buses is 30 minutes, so please note that you may end up spending a long time at the station, depending when you get there. In order to avoid this, make sure to take a picture of the bus time table and get familiar with it before you go sightseeing. Especially during lunch time (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM for Bus 810-1, and 10:30 - 13:30 for 810-2), the interval between buses is 1 hour, so make sure get off at a place where there are many restaurants like Songdang-ri and Seonin-dong. You can also get recommendations from the tour guide about nearby restaurants before you get off.

A village home to the wetlandsSeonheul-ri village

The “heul” in “Seonheul,” the village’s name, is the local word for “forest” or “bush.” As you can tell by its name, the forest is the pride of Seonheul village. This area is home to the Dongbaek Dongsan, Jeju's primeval forest, and the Meonmulkkak wetlands hidden in it. It’s also where you can find the Geomun Oreum, the only oreum in Jeju registered as a World Natural Heritage, and the lava cave Bengduegul. All these natural attractions are located across Seonheul 1-ri and Seonheul 2-ri. The narrow and simple village alleyways and empty lots with buckwheat flowers, nameless wild blooms and hydrangeas present an even starker contrast to majestic natural sights. Noticing those simple but charming flowers fluttering in the wind, many are tempted to stop and press the shutter on their cameras. If you take a walk along the trail around the Seonheul 2-ri bus stop, you’ll naturally feel the village’s unique charm.

Catch your breath at theDeokcheon-ri village

Manjanggul, Bijarim, Sangumburi... All these famous and exciting sights are connected to this peaceful village?home of the Jeju’s world natural heritage. The village is soothingly calm, without the typical tourist spot’s bustle. There’s not even a proper cafe or restaurant is present. It’s the perfect place to take a walk along the low, neat stone walls without a clear destination in mind. Getting off at the Deokcheon-ri village bus stop, a hackberry tree greets you with open arms in the middle of a three-way street. Either way is fine, but we recommend you to walk down the Woldeok-ro. As you walk along the road, you’ll reach the pond called “Mosanimot.” It's not grand in scale, but it’s mysteriously captivating. It is said that the villagers in the past named their hometown Deokcheon-ri because they thought the pond had “deok (virtue)’.” A serene and beautiful sight, the Mosanimot is home to the lotus flowers blooming in the season, the migratory birds, and rare organisms such as the watershield plant, Asian marshweed and Parnassus-leaf caldesia. As you gaze into the pond, you may find your thoughts and mind purified, as clear as the waters of Mosanimot.

surrounded by a rich Japanese Cedar forestWay to Min Oreum

Min Oreum itself is beautiful, but the road from the station to the oreum creates a different, almost divine atmosphere. The ranches are privately owned and have limited access times to prevent livestock diseases. They are usually available between May and October, from Tuesday to Thursday, between 2:00 PM ? 4:00 PM only. This adds a rather solitary atmosphere to the unfolding Redwood forest road and the ranch next to it, where horses and cattle leisurely graze. Feel free to enjoy these calming scenes, that somehow make you feel at one with nature and the comfort of solitude. Walking along this forest trail, you will encounter Guibinsa, which is Registered Cultural Property no. 113. Guibinsa was built to accommodate the Korean president and the nation’s VIPs, and was thus called “Lee Seung-man’s vacation home" after President Lee stayed in 1959. The hackberry tree in the courtyard, which still stands strong as if protecting the site, the lush green trees in the surrounding area, and the vacation house building all together create view that’s just like a landscape painting.
