- DELNext stop: Coastal landscapes of west Jeju!See half the island by bus! Journey southwest on bus 202Departing from Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal, Bus 201 runs along the eastern periphery of Jeju Island, while Bus 202 (formerly 702) runs along the western periphery. Both are excellent options for tourists as many of the must-see sites are right along both routes.A magnificent coastal cliff and charming villageDaepyeong-ri BaksugijeongBaksu means spring water and gijeong means cliff in the Jeju language. Put them together and you have the most magnificent 100+ meter-tall wall that stands like a natural fortress along the south coast and the sea. The port at Daepyeong is right at its base and from there you can admire Sanbangsan Mountain, Songaksan Mountain, Hyeongjaeseom Islet, and access the Sagye Coastal Road. Due to its quiet beauty, this area has one of the highest rates of people moving in on the entire island. As a result, there are more and more quaint cafes and restaurants opening every day. There’s so much to see, do, and experience, that although it’s quite far from Jeju City, ideally it would be on every traveler’s to do list.Daepyeong Port정보 자세히 보기 >Address982-2 Gamsan-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-siPublic transportationFrom Seogwipo Bus Terminal take bus 202, getting off at the Gamsan-ri West-East stop. There is a stark cliff face there, but the entire area is more typical of a gently sloped meadow. A path along the shore is quite flat and not too difficult for a young child or someone in their golden years. The walk along this path takes about an hour, however, you’ll still need sturdy shoes and proper attire in case the weather changes rapidly or the wind picks up. Also, keep an eye out for remnants of military caves dug during the Japanese occupation. The area is replete with evidence of the sad history of that time.Songaksan Dullegil정보 자세히 보기 >Address421-1 Songakgwangwang-ro, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-siPublic transportationFrom Seogwipo Bus Terminal take bus 202 and get off at Gamsan-ri, transferring to bus 752 and getting off at Sanisu-dong bus stop. It is designated as Regional Scenic Spot No. 77, so it is recognized nationally. The famous Sanbanggul Cave at the Buddhist temple there is considered one of the 10 Yeongju sites. And just 10 minutes away by foot is the magnificent seashore of Yongmeori, a marvel of geology that formed some 800,000 years ago. Its myriad undulating walls get their shape from millennia of erosion by ocean waves. If you do explore these narrow natural alleys, please take care to watch for falling rocks. A helmet is highly recommended.Sanbangsan Mountain정보 자세히 보기 >AddressSan 16 Sagye-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-siHours08:30~18:00FeesFees 1,000 won for adults, 500 won for kidsPublic transportationFrom Seogwipo Bus Terminal take bus 202 and get off at Sanbangsan bus stop (total travel time is about 53 minutes.ParkingFree parking availablePhone064-760-6321A picturesque placeSagye Beach Cafe RoadSanbangsan and Songaksan Mountains: brothers-in-law facing an endless sea. They hold evidence of thousands of man-made footprints and animal fossils which are estimated to be about 15,000 years ago. Everywhere you look you’ll find something to intrigue you. This has led its becoming very popular — so much so that the coastal road there is now a great place to find outstanding coffee shops and restaurants. The combination of great coffee and an even better view makes it an all-round recommended spot.Sagye Beach정보 자세히 보기 >AddressSagye-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-siPublic transportationFrom Seogwipo Bus Terminal take bus 202 and get off at the Sagye-ri Dongdong bus stop. If the weather cooperates, the view can’t be beat but you’ll always find it windy. It’s readily accessible by public transportation from Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal. It is one of the selections of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs for inclusion on its list of beautiful coastal roads that are accessible, scenic, and safe. The sea and sky at sunset are indescribably beautiful, and at times you can see in the distance both Gapado and Marado Islands. Dolphins inhabit this part of the coast, so you might be lucky enough to spot them right from shore.Ilgwa-ri Coastal Road정보 자세히 보기 >AddressIlgwa-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-siPublic transportationFrom Jeju Intercity Bus Terminal take bus 202 and get off at Ilgwa 1-ri bus stop.
