Experience Jeju's essence <Jeju Stone Culture Experience>

Since Jeju is abundant in Wind, Stone and Women, it has often been called Samda-do, how about experiencing the stones which is one of the Samda-do? In Jeju, one can see a lot of black stones, but if you are not interested in looking at them, please read the following article carefully. In addition to places that shine and sparkle with the mere presence of stones, there are art museums decorated with stone-themed emotional spaces, as well as dessert cafes built with only stones.

The opportunity to learn the wisdom of Jeju people <Dolbitna Art School >

Jeju is known for its stone walls that have an appearance of being woven together when you travel around the island. It appears as if the stone wall would fall over if touched, however no matter how strong the wind is, it doesn't move an inch.

- You can learn how stone walls can withstand Jeju's harsh winds by visiting Dolbitna Art School, which teaches the wisdom of the Jeju people. The Dolbitna Art School promotes the real meaning and value of Jeju stones through research, education, and promotion of the stone culture on Jeju Island.

As part of an educational program coordinated by the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, elementary and middle school students are invited to experience a variety of activities related to the theme of Jeju stones. These activities include building stone walls in a variety of ways and making flower pots. A stone wall building experience using indoor or large outdoor fields is also offered to travelers who wish to learn more about the stone culture of Jeju directly. For a comprehensive experience of Jeju Island's nature and culture with a focus on basalt, the island's symbol, we recommend Dolbitna Art School as a must-do course.

It is important to note that most of the sculptures are outside, which lead people to the outdoor forest path, and the harmony between Gotjawal Forest and Dolhareubang is particularly striking. Hidden throughout the forest, Dol Hareubang greets visitors in various ways. It is impossible not to smile when you see the colorful expressions that reflect our daily lives.

Being a place where outdoor exhibitions are the main attraction, it is pleasant to stroll around the art museum in the early hours of summer. This area, which is lush and filled with the scent of summer, is particularly well suited for photography. Tree houses from fairy tales, Indian tents made of wood, picnic sets, and wooden doll huts are available. By sitting on an appropriate backdrop and choosing the right color for the roof, you can capture emotional photographs.

After having taken pictures and witnessed the outdoor exhibitions, you may enter the indoor exhibition space as temperatures start to rise. In terms of the indoor exhibition, it is said to be held at various times in a clean and neat space, with a feel that is unique to Jeju, providing a blend of vintage and contemporary.

The cafe adjacent to the ticket office is a good place to take a break if you are tired of walking around outdoors and then all the way back indoors.  Particularly, one side of the cafe has a space for coloring, so even children can bring their own personal touch to the picture. Aside from coloring, we also offer a stamp experience, which does not incur additional fees, so we recommend that you take a break and give it a try.

Experience Jeju's Stone Culture<Jeju Stone Park>

You may enjoy walking in a park with stones in the vast nature at Jeju Stone Park. Jeju Stone Park, as its name suggests, the park is a showcase of Jeju's stone culture. An area of approximately 1 million pyeong has been dedicated to the park, which contains stones which represent the spirit of Jeju people, which tell the story of Seolmundae Halmang and General Obaek (Obaek Jang-goon ).

Despite the park's name, you should not assume it is a boring and uninteresting space full of stones. The lush green forest path from the entrance, the deep atmosphere emanating from the huge megalith, and even the sparkling sky pond are all reasons to go to see this amazing park. Tourists are attracted to its many beautiful spots. Put aside the worry that it will be full of dull stones. This trip is enough to deliver a satisfying experience to your five senses, such as the refreshing scent of the forest, the refreshing sound of the wind, and the mysterious tower and much more.

While walking along Jeju's refreshing forest trail, or while enjoying a rest under the shade of a tree, you can take a picture of the clear sky reflected at the sky pond. Those who are interested in the world of stones are advised to visit the Stone Museum in order to gain a greater understanding of this fascinating world.

In view of the fact that it is a park that is in harmony with nature, it displays a wide variety of flowers throughout the year. As it is filled with rapeseed flowers in spring, hydrangeas and sunflowers in summer, and pampas grass in autumn, walking through this park each time of year can be a new point for healing.

A variety of traditional experience programs are also offered at Jeju Stone Village, Jeju Stone Park. We built Jeju Stone Village in an effort to recreate the feel of an old village in Jeju, which is almost extinct. Please be aware that this program is not always up and running, so please check before visiting.

Dessert that embodies the essence of life in Jeju <Jeju Basalt>

What about desserts to reminisce about your trip? By combining the raw materials of Jeju Island with Jeju Basalt, we introduce something that contains the meaning and value of Jeju. As mentioned above, the main concept of Jeju Basalt is that the basalt rocks represent the life of Jeju in various forms, including stone walls, stone houses, and Dol Hareubang.

As part of the old downtown area, the Jeju Basalt shop is located in a residential area. As you enter through the entrance, the interior is decorated with a unique atmosphere created by basalt. Using props that match basalt in soft lighting, it creates an ambiance that is luxurious in nature.
