From Korean Food to CakesIntroducing Four New Muslim-Friendly Restaurants
Meat-Free Dishes and DessertVegan Table Baram

Vegan Table Baram is a vegan restaurant in Aewol on the northwest side of Jeju. The restaurant has a small menu that includes ciabatta salad, pasta, and a vegan burger. It also serves brown rice bibimbap—a vegan version of the classic Korean dish in which rice is mixed in a bowl with vegetables and sauce. Whichever option you choose, fresh vegetables fill the plate with bright colors.

The restaurant also sells various cakes and desserts such as walnut bread and scones. And it only uses organic flour and whole wheat flour to create these products. The restaurant is located in a quiet area, and its large windows offer views out over the surrounding countryside. Despite seeming remote, it is located just off one of Jeju’s major roads and is under 10 minutes from popular sites such as Gwakji Beach and Handam Coastal Trail.

Veggie Burgers, Soup, and SandwichesAnd Yu Café

And Yu Café has a small, entirely plant-based menu. Highlights include delicious veggie burgers, soups, and sandwiches. If you want to treat yourself, you can also buy afternoon tea for two. This is a set menu with scones, cake and desserts, sandwiches, and a cup of black tea. The venue sells a selection of coffees, teas, and smoothies, although it also sells alcoholic drinks like beer and cider.

The owners make as much of the food as possible in-house, giving them control over exactly what goes into their food. And Yu Café is situated on the island’s northwest near to several popular attractions such as Hyeopjae Beach and Hallim Park.

Vegetable-Based Set-MenuJageun Bueok

Jageun Bueok means small kitchen in Korean, and it’s an apt name for this cute restaurant situated in the countryside on the island’s northeast. Diners can choose from either a set menu or individual dishes. The set menu includes juice, a squash dish, salads, devil’s tongue sushi, and vegetable tteokbokki—a spicy Korean dish in which chewy rice cakes are covered in spicy sauce. Individual dishes include bibimbap, vegetable tteokbokki, fried rice cakes, and juice.

The restaurant is located in the countryside on the northeast of Jeju. It’s a 10-minute drive from Hamdeok Seoubong Beach and around 20 minutes from Ecoland. To eat at the restaurant you must make a reservation in advance. It opens from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. It also takes limited evening reservations.

Tasty Korean Temple FoodDasoni

Dasoni is a restaurant that sells Korean vegetarian food. The menu contains popular dishes like bibimbap, noodle soups, and rice porridge. And the highlight is that each dish comes with a tasty selection of side dishes such as kimchi and doenjang soup.

If you’re looking for an experience like a regular Korean meal, this is the place to visit. The interior has a traditional style with large exposed wooden beams and low tables. And the large windows provide views of the surrounding garden: look out for the large earthenware pots that were originally used to ferment doenjang paste and kimchi. The restaurant is located in the center of Jeju City, making it easily accessible for people staying in the area.
