Room With a ViewFour Jeju Hotels Perfect for Viewing Canola Flowers

In spring, Jeju’s landscape comes alive with color. One of the most notable shades is the bright yellow of canola flowers. Fields of these plants paint the surroundings of many of Jeju’s most famous sites from February to May, making this one of the most beautiful times of year to visit. This article will introduce four hotels near some of the best spots for viewing canola flowers: Sanbangsan Mountain, Gwangchigi Beach, Noksan-ro, and Hamdeok Seoubong Beach.

Dramatic Views of Sanbangsan MountainY Resort Jeju

Sanbangsan Mountain is one of the most well-known attractions on Jeju. The lava tuff cone towers dramatically over the surrounding area, its steep cliff faces dominating the coastline. In spring, the landscape surrounding the mountain gets a colorful makeover as it is taken over by canola flowers. The sight of yellow fields with Sanbangsan Mountain in the background is one you won’t want to miss. Y Resort Jeju is a great option for a hotel near Sanbangsan Mountain, and you can even see the peak from the hotel. The resort itself has plenty to offer beyond being close to one of Jeju’s most famous sites, such as an outdoor coast-facing swimming pool, a karaoke room, screen golf, and an on-site convenience store. The hotel has six types of rooms, including a four-person pool suite. There are plenty of other attractions in the area you can explore. Olle Trail 10 passes by the hotel and is an excellent option for people who want to stretch their legs along the coast. Hwasun Black Sand Beach is also close by, as is Yongmeori Coast, a brilliant rock and cliff formation created by layers of sand being deposited over tens of millions of years.

Fields of Yellow at Gwangchigi BeachPlayce Camp Jeju

Gwangchigi Beach is a section of Jeju coast that looks out at Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak—another of Jeju’s most well-known natural spots. In spring, the fields that line the coast fill up with yellow canola flowers, providing the perfect backdrop for unique photos out over the coast and Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. Many of the fields are privately owned, so you may have to pay a small fee for access. If you choose to do so, many of the owners provide accessories such as heart-shaped benches and Jeju dolharubang statues, which add a unique flavor to your photos. As a popular tourist location, there are many hotels in the area. Situated just across the road from the beach, Playce Camp Jeju is one of the best. The hotel has a variety of stylish accommodation options, from standard rooms to penthouse party suites. What really makes the hotel stand out is its courtyard. Here guests have access to multiple places to eat and drink in a fun atmosphere. The hotel also organizes activities for guests. It offers everything from cooking and pottery classes to scuba diving and nighttime oreum trekking. There are plenty of other things to do in the area. Guests are close to Seongsan Port, where they can easily take the ferry to Udo Island, a small island just off Jeju’s coast that is known for its beaches and natural landscape. Hanwha Aqua Planet Jeju—a huge aquarium with 48,000 animals—is also nearby, as is the Seopjikoji Coast, an area known for its lighthouse and scenery.

Noksan-ro: A Different Way to View Canola FlowersSono Calm Jeju

Noksan-ro is a quiet country road lined with canola flowers. The best time to visit is at the end of March or early April when both canola flowers and cherry blossoms are in bloom. Come on a clear day and you’ll get one of the most colorful scenes on Jeju. Cherry blossoms are fleeting which means you only have a short window to catch the two flowers together. The canola flowers that line this stretch of road last much longer and it’s well-worth a trip to see them, even without the pink blossoms. Sono Calm Jeju is a coastal hotel a short drive from Noksan-ro. It has spacious green grounds and an outdoor pool. The hotel is situated on the shore, and you get spectacular views out over the sea. There are various types of rooms with either garden or coastal views. Rooms in the West Tower come with simple equipment you can use to prepare food, such as a rice cooker, an electric stovetop, and a microwave. This is perfect if you want the chance to prepare your food rather than eating out for every meal. Other facilities at the hotel include a buffet restaurant, a café and bakery, a Korean restaurant, a sauna, a karaoke room, and an on-site convenience store. If you want to stay active and see the surrounding area, Olle Trail 4 passes within meters of the hotel’s grounds and is an excellent opportunity for a coastal walk. The hotel is in one of the island’s more remote areas, but Pyoseon Beach is just a 10-minute drive away.

Coastal Flowers at Hamdeok Seoubong BeachRamada by Wyndham Jeju the Hamdeok

Hamdeok Seoubong Beach is one of the most popular stretches of coast to visit on Jeju  due to its vast expanse of white sand, clear water, and the unique scenery provided by the nearby Seoubong Peak. In spring, this hill gets a makeover when it is covered in canola flowers. You can view the flowers from the beach itself, or take the short walk up the peak to get closer. Whichever option you choose, you’ll get colorful views of flowers, sea, sand, and sky. The coast near Hamdeok Seoubong Beach is lined with hotels so visitors have plenty of choices of where to stay. The Ramada by Wyndham Jeju the Hamdeok is a hotel situated slightly inland, around one kilometer from the beach. The hotel has seven types of rooms, ranging from standard to suites. These come with either mountain or coastal views. A highlight of the hotel’s facilities is its rooftop jacuzzis. Here you can relax in hot, bubbly water while taking in the fresh sea air. Other facilities include a fitness center, gym, and a coffee shop. The hotel’s location near Hamdeok Seoubong Beach means there are plenty of things to do nearby. You can reach various restaurants and coffee shops within a short walk. The hotel is also just a 30-minute drive from Jeju City and 45 minutes from the airport.
