Jeju’s Latest AttractionsFour of the Hottest New Things to Do on Your Jeju Trip

New attractions open on Jeju every year. Some of 2020’s hottest draws include Jeju Greem Café, a coffee shop that is decorated so it appears to be a 2D comic book, and Arte Museum Jeju, an immersive multimedia art experience. These are the perfect places to visit if you’re making a second trip to the island, or if you just want to participate in the most up-to-date activities while here. In this article, we’ll look at four of Jeju’s hottest new landmarks and introduce cool places to go near each one.

Step Into a Cartoon WorldJeju Greem Café

Jeju Greem Café opened in July 2020. Everything in the venue, including the walls, furniture, plates, and mugs, is white with black outlines. This makes entering seem like you’re stepping into a 2D cartoon world. The illusion is highly convincing, and it provides some incredible photo opportunities. The café itself has a variety of delicious coffees, teas, and soft drinks, as well as desserts like cakes and ice cream. It also has big tables and plenty of parking spots making it a good choice for groups. There are many things to do nearby. For starters, the café is situated on the fourth floor of Jeju Aerospace Museum. The museum displays out-of-service and replica planes from throughout history. It talks about the story and the technology behind each one. The museum also has interactive exhibits galore and it’s the perfect place for kids to learn something while staying entertained. Another popular nearby attraction is Osulloc Tea Museum. Walking through the green tea fields and the museum grounds is a relaxing way to spend time outside after visiting the Aerospace Museum. You can even head into the museum’s café for a cup of Jeju tea if you are feeling thirsty again. Or, visit the shop to buy tea to take home.

Peanuts Themed Garden and MuseumSnoopy Garden

Snoopy Garden opened in July 2020. It is a museum and park based around the characters from the cartoon Peanuts. The indoor Garden House has five halls with the themes of relationships, daily life, relaxation, happiness, and dreams. Each hall contains Peanuts-related exhibits, drawings, and cartoon strips that help you feel like you’ve entered the world of the animation. There’s also a café and a store inside the museum.  Outside, the park’s 11 gardens blend Jeju’s natural features with recognizable exhibits from Peanuts, such as The Great Pumpkin Patch, Charlie Brown’s Baseball Park, and the Beagle Scout Camp. While the venue is a real treat for fans of the comic, the colorful and cute exhibits combine with Jeju’ nature to ensure it also appeals to a much wider audience. A visit to Snoopy Garden is a great opportunity to relax and take some unique photos. There are plenty of attractions nearby. Abu Oreum and Yongnuni Oreum are volcanic hills that provide an excellent opportunity for some fresh air. The former is a low volcanic cone with a 78-meter-deep crater making it a relatively easy walk. Yongnuni Oreum is taller and steeper but the views from the top make the climb worth it. Jeju Rail Bike lets you view Jeju’s nature without having to hike. The rail bike takes you through the countryside near to Yongnuni Oreum, and on clear days you can see out as far as Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Udo Island. The train sets off every hour on the hour between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (and 5.30 p.m. in peak season).

Interact with AnimalsSaebyeol Heyyo Farm in Jeju

Saebyeol Heyyo Farm in Jeju is an animal farm that is home to alpacas, horses, ponies, goats, sheep and more. The highlight of the park is the animal experiences. Visitors can buy a cup of carrots and feed the ponies and alpacas, or those feeling adventurous can go horseback riding. You can also walk around the farm: doing so will reveal plenty of pastoral-themed photo opportunities. Saebyeol Oreum is nearby and it is one of Jeju’s most famous volcanic hills. There’s a relatively steep yet short climb to the summit, but it is well worth it for the views over the surrounding area. Next to Saebyeol Oreum is Saebil Café. This is a large café built in a renovated hotel. Here you can choose from a selection of baked goods and drinks to enjoy while looking out at views of Saebyeol Oreum.

Immersive Art ExperienceArte Museum Jeju

Arte Museum Jeju is an immersive art experience. It opened in September 2020, making it one of the island’s newest museums. Each exhibition uses light, sound, and smell to create an environment based on one aspect of nature. For example, in the beach exhibition room, visitors stand in front of a giant screen that appears to show the sea stretching out in front of you. The illusion is made more realistic as the waves stretch onto the floor around your feet and lap at your toes. If you think you’ll want a change of pace after spending time inside, look no further than gravity racing at 9.81 Park. Here, you’ll race karts that are powered only by the momentum built up from traveling down hill. The lack of an engine doesn’t mean the vehicles are slow. Drivers can reach speeds of up to 40km on the specially designed track.
