COVID-19 has changed the way we enjoy travel. Now we do it to calm our exhausted bodies and minds. Healing has become a major trend, transcending the simple pleasures of seeing, eating and experiencing. The Jeju Tourism Organization is working towards revitalizing the local tourism market, one which has been severely affected by the pandemic, by publishing 15 wellness tourist spots selected based on their unique and clean environments, natural healing and more. This is wellness tourism that is open all year round.

Walk along a forest path while enjoying the subtle scent of cypress trees[Nature/Forest Healing] Meochewat Forest Path

Meochewat Forest Path offers a wide range of pasture meadows and primeval forests to enjoy in Hannam-ri, Seogwipo. “Meoche” is a compound word in the Jeju language that refers to “where stones are piled regularly and mixed with wood,” and “wat” means “field.”

Here you can find a forest “tunnel” formed by cedar and cypress forests located near vast pastoral meadows and illustrate just how the island is filled with natural beauty.

A unique healing kayak park in the natural forest, not the sea[Nature/Forest Healing] Vicheollin

Vicheollin is located in the mid-mountain area west of Jeju City. It is a place where you can leisurely enjoy kayaking and healing in the woods along a 1,000-meter waterway created in the natural forest. “Vicheollin” means “a place in the sun,” that is, it is based in nature.

With the unique concept of kayaking in the forest, not the sea, you can enjoy Jeju’s natural beauty and the scenery of the forest tunnel. In addition, there are places where you can spend time on a nearby walking trail or campsite.

A basalt forest found in the mysterious volcanic land of Jeju[Nature/Forest Healing] Papa Ville

Papa Ville is a tourist spot featuring many uniquely shaped Jeju basalt stones, including those that resemble the Korean Peninsula. “Papa” refers to father and 'Ville (bile)' is a Jeju word for basalt lava.

An eco-friendly tourist spot covered with red volcanic rocks[Nature/Forest Healing] Bulgeun Oreum Natural Recreation Forest

Bulgeun Oreum Natural Recreation Forest is located on Namjo-ro, Seogwipo-si. It is called “bulgeun” because the soil is exceptionally red. In fact, most of the area is covered with red volcanic stones termed scoria.

It is an eco-friendly eco-tourism spot full of Jeju's wild plants and animals, such as mulberry grass, maple trees, oak trees, and roe deer.

Of note is the barrier-free pathway built in the forest to provide wheelchair and limited mobility access. There are also braille information boards provided for the convenience of the visually impaired.

Gwaneumsa campsite is located in Ara-dong, just south of Jeju City, so you can enjoy camping near the city center. The campsite is located at 620m above sea level and is an optimal place to experience Hallasan Mountain. Around the campsite there are evergreen broad-leaved forests of camphor trees, oak trees, and coniferous cedar trees, making it a great place to observe natural ecology.

No campfires or charcoal fires are allowed, and only cooking with a portable gas burner is allowed.

“Gamoemul” refers to water that flows in the Gotjawal forest from Jeju’s underground aquifer. At this rural eco experience farm, visitors can get in touch with the countryside and communicate with its rich nature. There are also rural education programs taught by professional instructors.

This theme park offers an equestrian experience program amid Jeju’s cool, fresh cypress forest and verdant grassland. The program is perfect for beginners unfamiliar with horseback riding.
