The Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum opened in 1984 in downtown Jeju City. It is the only museum in the country to research, collect, and display local traditional heritages and natural history scattered throughout several places in the island.
On display are many informative dioramas and signboards which give visitors a genuine sense of the lives and daily routines of the Jeju people. Full-size recreations of traditional homes and fishing vessels, among others, are on view.
This educational experience is fun for the whole family. Right next to the museum is a large public park, Samseonghyeol Shrine, the Jeju Culture and Art Center, and a famous street full of restaurants serving delicious Jeju dishes. This is a great opportunity and spot for first-time visitors to Jeju.
