As fall deepens with its colder winds, Hallasan Mountain’s autumn leaves spread its colors across Jeju. Jeju’s green scenery turns to red and yellow in fall. In contrast to the lively spring and summer, Jeju in fall is calm and cozy. Many tourists and locals come to parks and forest paths to enjoy the rare scenery that can only be captured in this season. There are many scenic spots for autumn leaves in Jeju, but temples and parks with fewer visitors are the best places to enjoy fall in Jeju. Here, we introduce you to some scenes of Jeju in the middle of fall, presented by its blue skies and colorful autumn leaves.
The garden, located in Jeoji-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, is composed of seven smaller gardens in 12,000-pyeong (39,669.4㎡) of land. It is the first nationally designated private garden. Each garden shows a different waterfall, pond, or stone bridge. It is famous for its meditative calm thanks to the volcanic ash and pine trees laid along the path. In windy fall, you can feel the calm of Jeju’s nature in Spirited Garden’s still scenery.
A farmer in Jeoji-ri, Hangyeong-myeon created this garden. The garden is uniquely constructed with high stone walls as protection against Jeju’s strong winds, blocking the view from the outside. It is famous for its exotic look. When you come in from the high, castle-like stone walls, you meet a cozy interior. You will find your mind cleared of thoughts and enjoying fall in Jeju, watching the garden’s red leaves, green pines, and the interesting shapes of stones.
You can also find verses of art, thoughts, and philosophy placed surrounding the strolling paths of Spirited Garden. You can visit in other seasons too. However, try visiting in fall, where the winds are cooler and you become lonelier. You will be able to empty out and recharge your thoughts in the peaceful garden. It would be nice to enjoy the beauty of nature at Spirited Garden by meditating in a relaxing way.
Seobok, an emissary for Emperor Qin Shi Huang, came with his fleet to find the plant of eternal youth 2,200 years ago. He came to Youngjusan Mountain, one of the three sacred mountains, but was unable to find the plant. Turning back, he inscribed “Seobulgwacha” on a rock face at Jeongbang Falls. Seobok Eternal Youth Park is made to honor him on top of Jeongbang Falls.
Seobok Eternal Youth Park looks like a garden you would find in China. It is small but the small pavilion creates an elegant environment. Also, there are many medicinal plants that provide a unique environment in the park for you to enjoy. Particularly in fall, many tourists visit Jeongbang Falls to refresh the fatigues of traveling with the cool ocean winds of Jeju.
There are pines and other trees near Seobok Eternal Youth Park. You can enjoy the view of greenery harmonizing with the sea. Also, Jeongbang Falls and Sonammeori are right nearby. If you are visiting Seogwipo, we recommend you visit. Take a minute to rest yourself at Seobok Eternal Youth Park. Enjoy the view of pines, green even in fall, and the Seogwipo ocean.
